Advanced Vocal Ensemble presents its first virtual choir video of the season
The Advanced Vocal Ensemble is focusing on social justice music this semester. So that students could become adept at recording themselves to a click track using GarageBand, or some other digital audio workstation, we started with a round from the Justice Choir songbook, Love Is Love Is Love Is Love by Abbie Betinis.
It's a deceptively simple canon which incorporates the Pachelbel Canon in D, chant from the Liber Usualis (Ubi Caritas et Amor "Where there is charity and love") and includes a little Beatles quote as well! The composer dedicated this song, "to the victims, and survivors, of hate crimes everywhere, and specifically for those at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016. Love is often the bravest thing we do. May love prevail." You can sing along at home!
